During more than forty years of creative activity, Elan Primo Marsiglia has developed a universe of symbols that form his Poetics. They include Eros and Memory along his childhood’s world, water, dwellings, the oneiric dimension and tributes to different characters of the arts and letters such as Jorge Luis Borges, Primo Levi, Paul Celan, Toulouse Lautrec and Frida Kalho. In addition to being a visual artist, Elan Primo Marsiglia is a cultural journalist and a Doctor of Fine Arts. His work is a reflection of this versatile background and of his admiration of De Chirico brothers and especially of Alberto Savinio. “Alberto Savinio: Memories of a Foreigner” is the title of his doctoral thesis. His identification with Savinio and the writer Edmond Jabès captures his perpetually wandering self. His journeys through many countries -such as Italy, Spain, Uruguay, Sweden, Germany and France- nurtured his language and Poetics. His numerous exhibitions and retrospectives in major European cities are coherent and faithful to the perspectives and symbols previously mentioned. In his written and visual language, one can perceive his constant search for Poetry and his desire that the observers could freely access his oneiric universe and make it their own.
